Red Clay Strays Share How They Formed & Perform Two Songs

The Red Clay Strays stopped by The Bobby Bones Show for the first time to share how they became a band, perform and more!

Brandon Coleman (lead vocals/guitar), Drew Nix (vocals/electric guitar/harmonica), Zach Rishel (electric guitar), Andrew Bishop (bass), and John Hall (drums), make up The Red Clay Strays. Growing up together in Mobile, Alabama they spent years performing in the Gulf Coast music scene in a cover band, trying to find their sound. They went by multiple names and Bishop’s brother came up with the name ‘The Red Clay Strays.’

At first, they didn't like it, but they needed a name, and it was catchy, so they stuck with it. After seven years of being a band together, they wanted their music to reach new audiences, so they started posting it on TikTok. Coleman’s brother is a videographer and was looking for work, so their manager hired him to start recording their rehearsals and shows and would post the clips on TikTok and their music started going viral. Their only goal was to capture the moment and have it be as raw as possible and it worked. When their song “Wondering Why” went viral that’s when they noticed a difference. The Red Clay Strays are currently on their Way Too Long Tour and spend most of their time on the road away from home. They love the touring life and are eager for fans to hear their new music!

While in studio they performed “No One Else Like Me” and “Wondering Why.”
