Randall King paid tribute to legendary country star Randy Travis with a cover of his classic country ballad, “Forever and Ever, Amen.”

Travis, 66, released the timeless country song on his 1987 studio album, Always & Forever. It remains one of the most well-known hits of the Country Music Hall of Fame Member’s decades-long career, along with “Deeper Than the Holler,” “On the Other Hand,” “I Told You So” and more. King, a West Texas-born country artist, delivered his rendition of “Forever and Ever, Amen” on a recent episode of God’s Country, hosted by brothers Dan and Reid Isbell. Dan and Reid shared a clip of the cover on Instagram, and King commented that he had a “heckuva time” on the show.

“This week Reid and Dan host a true Texan and country music star, Randall King, out in God's Country. Randall starts the show by exposing a fun hobby about himself most people don't know and the guys have a field day with it. The three of them cover dove hunting tactics and the unorthodox way Randall's family goes about Jug fishing at his family reunions. King struggles to give his Texas Country Music Mount Rushmore and they all dive in on how Pure Country is one of the greatest movies of all time. The episode ends with a gravorite that only could be pulled off by Randall King himself.”

Dan and Reid — who have written music for Luke CombsMiranda LambertScotty McCreeryJon PardiLainey Wilson and others — started their weekly podcast in early January 2024. Some of the first guests to appear on the show include HARDYDustin LynchColbie Caillat and others.

“One of our favorite things about country music has always been how intertwined it is with the outdoors,” Dan and Reid Isbell said in a statement when God’s Country launched. They hope to “bring the outdoor enthusiast or country music lover an up close and personal look into the minds of some of the best songwriters and artists of the genre — a place where they can be honest about struggles, relationships, their connection to the outdoors, the music business, family, whatever they feel comfortable talking about. We can’t wait to see where this partnership will lead and who this podcast will reach.”

The iHeartPodcasts/MeatEater show is available anywhere you listen to podcasts, including in the iHeartRadio app. Select country stations will broadcast the show between 7-11:30 p.m. local time on Sunday evenings. Find God's Country here.
