U.S. Marine veteran Todd Winn stood in full uniform to make a powerful statement last Friday.
He stood outside of the Utah State Capitol for three hours, in temps that neared 100 degrees, with black tape over his mouth with a written statement that covered his lips: "I can't breathe."
Thousands of protesters had attended a demonstration at the same spot in front of the Utah State Capitol the day before he demonstrated alone.
He held a sign that read, "Justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tamir Rice, and countless others."
He stood in that spot for 3 hours, refusing water and the only time he moved was to take a knee and stand at attention.

Winn shared his U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs identification card, his Purple Heart citations, and photos from his time in the Marines with local TV affiliate KUTV to assure the public he is in fact a Marine Corps veteran, after some questioned his status.
