Megan Moroney delivered another bonus track to add to her Cloud 9 record on Friday (May 15).

Moroney, the most-nominated artist at the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday (May 17), released “Traitor (Roles Reversed).” She teamed up with David Mescon, Emily Weisband and Hillary Lindsey to write the song, which calls out a “promise breaker” and a “master manipulator” who will predictably flip the script and call her the “traitor,” (though “if roles reversed,” he’d fall apart).

“I know how this will go, yeah, it’ll all be on me/ You’ll call me insecure, say you’ve never met a woman more crazy/ Look down and point your finger, say ‘we’ll talk about this later’/ Like you’re doing me some favor/ Yeah, you’re the promise breaker, master manipulator/ But you’ll call me the traitor”

Moroney surprised fans earlier this week when she announced “Traitor (Roles Reversed)” would arrive in time for the weekend. She counted the days until the opening night of her “Cloud 9” arena tour, and the number of days fans have to learn the new song. Moroney will kick off her run of headlining shows on May 29. See the dates below.

“I am so excited for my fans and I to dive into this new world of Cloud 9 together,” Moroney said in a previous statement. “Similar to the first two albums [2023’s Lucky and 2024’s Am I Okay?], it’s all written about honest, personal experiences, but these songs were written by the strongest, most confident version of myself I’ve ever been. My feet feel firmly planted in my artistry and it was fun to play around sonically, while still sticking to my roots of what my fans and I love. Cloud 9 is a state of mind, and I have no doubt this will be the best chapter yet.”
