FIREROSE reacted to ex-husband Billy Ray Cyrus’ rumored new relationship with actress Elizabeth Hurley months after the former couple divorced.
The Australian singer-songwriter, 37, said via a rep in a statement obtained by PEOPLE, the Daily Mail and other outlets that she’s “currently focused on her music, which continues to inspire new souls globally every day. She’s rising in her next chapter of artistic evolution, which reflects the profound strength, healing and transformation she’s been forged through. She’s living her purpose by uplifting others out of the darkness with God’s love at the forefront.”
On her Instagram story, FIREROSE shared clips of her songs “Rise Up” and “War Is Won,” plus a fiery reel from a fan account depicting a woman transforming into a phoenix and flying above a pile of ashes. She has not directly addressed her ex-husband’s apparent new relationship on her social media as of publication time on Wednesday morning (April 23).
FIREROSE, also known as Johanna Rose Hodges, married Cyrus, 63, in October 2023. The then-newlyweds described their wedding day at the time as one that “will always be the beautiful, joyous day that our two souls united as one in holy matrimony. It was the most perfect, ethereal celebration of love we could have ever imagined.” Cyrus cited “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct” when he filed for divorce, ending the marriage after only seen months. Cyrus and FIREROSE made accusations against one another throughout the divorce, including abuse and unauthorized use of credit cards. Cyrus said in a statement when the divorce was finalized, in part, that the short-lived marriage was “the most crazy insane scam,” and he’s “very relieved” it’s over.
Months after finalizing his divorce from FIREROSE (and months after his viral Inauguration Day performance), Cyrus stirred dating rumors when he posted a flirty photo kissing Hurley on Easter Sunday (April 20). Hurley’s son, Damian Hurley, 23, whom she welcomed with late businessman and film producer Steve Bing, commented on the post with two emojis: “🥳♥️.” Earlier this month, Hurley and Cyrus have commented on one another’s posts and subtly nodded to one another, including when Hurley set a reel to Cyrus’ “She’s Not Crying’ Anymore.” The rumored new couple met in 2022 on the set of Christmas in Paradise, which also starred Kelsey Grammer and others.
Cyrus finalized his divorce from his wife of nearly 30 years, Tish Cyrus, in 2022. He and Tish share five children: Brandi Cyrus, 37, Trace Cyrus, 35 (both of whom Cyrus adopted when he married their mother in the early 90s), Braison Cyrus, 30, and daughters Miley Cyrus, 32, and Noah Cyrus, 25. Cyrus is also a father to son Christopher Cody Cyrus, 32, from a previous relationship. Hurley was previously married to businessman Arun Nayar, 60, from 2007 to 2011.
