Morgan Wallen and his band made their way to East Tennessee after learning about the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
Wallen, who’s from the area, joined comedian Theo Von and UT Baseball Head Coach Tony Vitello at a Hurricane Relief Drive hosted by the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. The nonprofit organization shared photos from the Hurricane Relief Drive on Wednesday (October 9), and stated that “we are incredibly grateful for Morgan’s commitment to aiding our East Tennessee community in this time of recovery from Helene.” The nonprofit organization also shared photos from the surprise visit from Wallen’s band, The Mechanics.
The Morgan Wallen Foundation coordinated with the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee to help those impacted by the hurricane, including with the Morgan Wallen Foundation Virtual Food Drive.
Wallen was one of several country artists to quickly speak out and take steps to help those impacted by the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Eric Church delivered his first solo release in more than three years, with royalties of “Darkest Hour” signed over to support his home state of North Carolina. Church also teamed up with Luke Combs and other artists to organize a benefit concert, set for Saturday, October 26. Others to share heartfelt responses and seek ways to support others included Chase Rice, Lady A and Tyler Hubbard, to name a few.
“My family in East Tennessee are safe but I know many are absolutely devastated there and in multiple states,” Wallen said in a statement on his Instagram story on September 29. “All my prayers are geared towards those tonight. Those hills and hollers are very important to me in so many ways. It is going to take a monumental effort and I am in contact with my team and others working on ways I can help.”
