Resurgence Of Sound Inspires Carly Pearce And Others

Cody Alan and Carly Pearce || Every Little Thing

Carly Pearce, country music’s darling, is on her way to starling.

Once a performer at Dollywood, the CMT Music Award winner is climbing the charts with her second single, “Hide the Wine” (No. 26 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart).

In a recent interview, Carly mentions that her musical foundations are deeply rooted by the sounds she treasured growing up in the 90’s and 2000’s. “I grew up idolizing the [women of the] late ’90s and early 2000s,” says Carly. “I loved Faith Hill. I loved Trisha Yearwood. I loved the Dixie Chicks, Sara Evans, Reba, Dolly, Patty Loveless—all these women that had such texture and tone to their voices and all had an identity and all were singing and loving country music. Shania pushed the boundaries and did things visually and also in her music that maybe was a little bit of an eyebrow raise, and just Trisha’s timeless sound, and I think that all of those girls really made me fall in love with the genre and made me know that that’s what I wanted to do. I think that there’s no denying when you listen to my album or you come to my show or see my merch that I’m trying to recreate that modern country girl.”

It appears that country music fans are in agreement and are embracing the rich throwback sounds. Newcomers like William Michael Morgan, Riley Green, Carlton Anderson and Cody Johnson are hitting the scene and being welcomed with open arms and hungry ears. Chart-topping established acts like, Garth Brooks, Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line are hitting airwaves with new singles that are heavily familiar boasting the hearty flair of honky-tonk acoustics.
