Morning Update 1-31-17:
It's only coincidence that the MS National Guard is hosting a three-day disaster exercise less than two weeks after a major tornado hit the Hattiesburg area. Guard personnel from across the country will be at Camp Shelby and in Gulfport simulating their response to a tsunami-- including search and rescue and evacuations.
Community Update alert: Sunday morning at 9, hear MEMA director Lee Smithson talk about the tornado recovery in the Pine Belt and concerns over a lack of adequate funding for the agency.
More spring-like weather for MS for the next couple of days. The return of rain this weekend is becoming more iffy, but NWS seems pretty convinced that we won't have to worry about any strong storms at least until the middle of next week-- if then.
